Music Video Finale

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. So through out this year this is my favorite project that we are doing and it's the Music Video Finale. Also this will be my last project of the year and blog post of this whole entire year. And that's because it's my last year of middle school. But don't get to upset I'll be posting here and there about how I'm progressing through high school. Not going into depth so lets go on to the blog. This year my teammates are Wailana Marvin, and Jaesha Mata. So the song for this year is "So sick" by neyo. We chose this song because for me I'll go with any song, and we had 2 songs in mind at the time we picked it. So we looked at each other if it was So sick or the other, it.

Describe storyline you created & how it relates to lyrics? So this song is about love and going through a break up. So in this music video it will be featuring Jaesha being broken up with, we are still deciding if we either need a male actress or we can just do it over text. So our storyline was very confusing at first but and changes I gotten used to it. Our storyline first was the main character which is Jaesha being broken up with and I was gone for 2 days and the whole storyline was turned from a break up story to a food/ diet kind of thing. And ya it's confusing. To go more into depth the story is Jaesha, Wailana, and I we are all love junk food and I mean who doesn't. So when our parent see us eating junk food they put us on a diet I guess and it's just for show were not actually being put on diets. Were just showing our parent taking away junk food from us and putting a bag of carrots or lettuce in front of us. So we were trying to make a comedy out of it because with this type of song for me personally I can't take things seriously.

So overall I think our MV we could've done better and that's because, we didn't have a various locations of where our lip syncs. For me the degree this MV showcases of I think most of what we can do. And This will be my last blog post of this school year.

Movie Trailer Critique

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog and this weeks project is Movie Trailers. And for me this is one of the projects that I have been waiting for. What I really like about Movie Trailers is that when I see it on TV I want to see the movie when it comes into theaters. Explain the project & how you contributed to the plan? Well I literally have the best team leader ever Jhoanna Domingo. She's so creative and we went with her idea and it was Hidden Secrets. So she took care of the sketch of the movie poster. While Kyllie, Mike and me, we were in the studio doing our script. So for Hidden Secret Julie is an everyday girl living in an ordinary town where it all seems perfect until she suddenly encounters drastic changes. The unexpected death of her best friend is determined by the authorities to have been an accident. However, Julie suspects there's something unsettling. What will she do, what clues have been left behind, will she find the truth?

Describe your biggest challenges & successes. Well I would have to say the biggest challenges I would have to say is finding time to meet up. We pulled through with the 2 meet ups, for our mid qurter grades I think it was. Though the thing is it would be great if the all of our teammates showed up. One example is we would plan the meet ups and one of us would either be busy but its's better than nobody showing up. Our successes were that we have 2 people assigned to do something on the team, and not leaving anyone out. Like Mike and I we are working on the movie trailer posters. And Jhoanna and Kyllie are the editors. Overall we worked good together as a team and that's because we got it turned in on time and we got good results from the critique.

Summarize critique results & what you learned. This project I would have to say turned out better than I thought because before the actual project was due we had a filming session with Kyllie, Jhoanna and me. We had a lot of fun filming, and it was a good turn out we had 3/4 team members show up and we got more than we needed. And when it was due I didn't even see the final product so when the day came it was the critique that's when I saw it. When it was the end of the critique I really like how the results turned out. And if we had anything to improve was my acting. Through out the movie trailer project I couldn't take anything seriously. When we would film and meet up all I did was laugh, and for some reason I was laughing at the littlest thing. Though the team and I had a lot of fun. So see you guys next week in the next blog post.

Metamorphosis Animation

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. This weeks project is an animation project about metamorphosis. Our focus statements are Rock Sparks Imagination, and Makaio Overcomes Sorrow. During the pitch critique we had a tie of votes and we had to make a decision. What I did was to break the tie I asked my team members what do they want to do. And the funny part was we all said we could do either one. Then we did something else, we visualized what the Rock Sparks Imagination vs  Makaio Overcomes Sorrow and what I visualized Makaio Overcomes Sorrow. And my team members thought or Rock Sparks Imagination. So that's where it all started.

Describe the project goal? The project goal for me would be to make things look realistic and make it the best quality. The animation types that we used is for the title is stop motion with drawing. For scene 1 we did stop motion, and for the rock part smashing on the ground we incorporated a mix with photoshop. Scene 2 we did photoshop with a little mix of stykz, scene 3 photoshop and for the last scenes 4 & 5 we did stop motion, for the very ending we did photoshop.

Rock Sparks Imagination that is our focus statement. So in this animation we are trying to show that dreams do come true and that if you can think it you can do it. So the story is a girl that walking home which is me, that is very frustrated. While she is walking home she stubs her foot on a rock and she gets angry, picks up the rock and throws it on the ground. Black screen and it shows Makaio waking up as a human. During the journey as a human he meets Jaesha his new friend, and he befriends Juli the bully that threw him on the ground. Then in the end they were playing a good game of tag and Makaio runs into a tree and wakes up and he's still a human. Then happily ever after the three friends walk into the sunset.

Final Critique Results 

The critique it went really well better that I expected because I thought we were going to get two's but not really. It was ranging from 2.9 to 3.4. Even though we didn't win I still though we did good on turning it in on time. If we did have a chance to redo this project, what we most improve on is trying to find time in meeting up with my team. Comparing from my animation last year I think I improved. Overall this project was super fun and we had a lot of laughs and new memories to keep.

Geometric Portraits

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. So this week we have a new project called low poly portraits. And getting to the first question, are facial expressions universal, why or why not? I think facial expressions are not universal because I've been to many places around the world and one is the Philippines. Like the kids on the street their playing a game with old tin cans and their slippers. And when I pass by all I see is just smiles. In my mind that just tells me you can have fun, no matter how expensive toys and gadgets you have, it matters if you have fun.

Next explain how you created this project step-by-step. The first step is to make sure you have you have a picture of your whole face. After you have your picture then you go into photo shop and where you can start working on your Low poly portrait. So what I did first was turn on my grid, then you find where you think the middle of your face is. So if your wondering you look to the right of the page. Then you trace around your face so now you have the center line and the tracing around your head. Now you can fill your head with triangles. And a little tip, while you are in this process you want to define the littlest thing with a lot more triangles for example (Mouth, lips, ears, eyes, eyebrow ...) So continuing on with the step by strep process. Then after you are done doing your triangles you can fill them and how you do that is you go to filter> blur> average. And also another way and this is my favorite way to do it is, we you get you polygonal lasso tool and you create a triangle and the you press I on your keyboard and that switches to your eyedropper tool. When your up to there you click on the space and choose what shade you want that matches that side you hi-lighted. Then you press control alt delete. then once you are done with that process you are done with the custom way. Now to add the final stuff so you have the one half of your face then you duplicate that layer to look like the other side of your face. In the example above. Then what we did was we put a white outline to finish it off.

And as you can see that with the last two projects that we did 2 different ways to make this project. And well the first way was we just took a picture of our face to neck and what we did was we only took one side of our face and we put triangles into that. Then to the final step we had to duplicate our face without the outline and match it up. There is also one more thing you change your red out line to white. And for the second project that we did was I would say easier. If your thinking what do I mean by that, I mean that you just have to a highlight a certain part and you fill it in with the color that matches. And one tip would be not to put the same shades of color together. You want this too look very realistic. And what I did was I tried to separate his face and his neck. And I didn't finish in time because I was putting triangles in places where they weren't supposed to go and that's what slowed me down in this process. Like for example as you can see that I put so much little triangles into the shadow part of his neck and his face. So another tip is would be put good sized triangles to where they belong.

Compare & contrast easy way with custom way. Lastly both project we fun. So during the first poly portrait that I did was the custom way to do it and it seemed easy at first when your doing the outlining and when you get to the shading in part I got lost with the triangles I did and did not do. So after I was done shading in all the triangles we had to complete it by duplicating the and meeting it together so you have your face. And what I did wrong was I squid it too much to the point where it almost doesn't look like me. And now for the easy way. I actually like this way on making it and that's because we only had to highlight and color. But the ting that I can improve one is to put triangles in the appropriate places. 

Verbal Landscapes

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog, this week we have a new project and its about nature. We have to create a video that incorporates nature. The requirements are you need 3 time lapses and 2 slow Mo's. Starting with the first question, nature impacts my life in many different ways one thing is we live in Hawaii. Everything you see is like paradise here the beaches, mountains and waterfalls.You get many things out of nature like you can grow your own food right at home. Like for my parents and grandparents we have a garden right in front of our house and we get all our vegetable ingredients from that like green onion, potato, corn, tomato's, pumpkins, squash, beans, peas and many other things. Also we have fruits banana, papaya and dragon fruit. Those are all the many thing that make impacts  on my life.

How are time lapses & slow-mos are created? For both you have more than one option to create it. Like you can use just your phone or if you have the feature like the iPhone you can just set it to where it say time lapse and you can just leave your phone there for however long you for me I like
to do mine for 10-30 minutes. Though when you are doing time lapses it should be a wide shot of the clouds passing by on a sunny day. And for slow Mo's you also have an option for that to on your iPhone. So when your doing a slow mo you can do it the way you want, for me I like doing my time lapses close up for example you can do a shot of a bee landing on a flower or rain drops falling off a flower petal. And so for slow Mo's you usually can just use a shot of 10 seconds or less.

Discuss the hardest part & your favorite part of it ? Well for me the hardest part would have been the editing. And that's because sometimes you would have all the clips that you want but it's not the way it turned out. Like for example I have all the clips that I need but I just have to work wit what I've got. So continuing on my favorite part of this project would be the filming like getting all your clips together. During the filming it was cool going to places that seemed unique and doing a time lapses. And for my slow Mo's it was really fun seeing in FCXP it turned out pretty well.


Lastly Do you agree & why with the result you got? Well I'm really happy that I got mostly 3 & 4's. Also I really want to know why I also got a 2. And I were to have a second chance to improve my video it would be to have more unique time lapses instead of doing it just in my yard. And also having what you need, you always need more because its good to have more shot than lees because you can improvise, also make it better than it already was. You call it reaching over and beyond or you bit of more than you could chew. 1 more thing I would fix the way how I set the camera up, it was in auto focus then when I finally go the chance and this was on my last two time lapses I looked and I switched it to Manual focus. Though i'm still really happy how my video turned out.

Poetic Personal Statement

Hey guys and welcome back to a new school year with my blog. Now I am in my last year of Middle School. So what I'll start off with is just summarizing what I did over the summer. Well I didn't do that much I stayed home most of the time. And I guess the most exiting thing about my summer is that I actually got to go travel alone to the Big Island on the Kona Side for a graduation party. And I really had a great time there I met a lot of new people and learn new things that I never even knew existed. Also another interesting thing was me and a couple of my friends and our media Teacher, Mr. Sanderl went to this media camp that taught us so many new things and preparing us for our Media Class.

Final Product

Continuing on, we as GT students were assigned with a new project. This a project is different from the rest that I did through out all year in this class. What we have to do is create a document in photo shop, where we have to incorporate things from our life goals list. It requires pictures that we take, a poem that explains you and a sketch with meaningful words. So this is the question explain what you think poetry is & what it’s used for. For me I think poetry is where you write down your feelings and its personal to you. Though poetry has a meaning to it. Like when you read a poem you hear it and you just want to imagine it in your head and it's pretty cool. I think poetry is used for many things like it get your mind off things but in a good way, writing a song, & explaining your thoughts and feelings.

Finally, what I basically did was I had to change was the whole poem into something that fit on the topic of what my poetic statement was saying. And for me I really like the outcome of how it turned out it has more detail and it's great. In the new poem that I wrote I really tried to put rhythm and rhyme in it. So the finished product is on the right of the text. So explaining what I did was to incorporate rhythm is "Strength and guidance", what I mean is when your playing football you always need guidance and the strength to play.

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. So this will be my last blog post of my school year but don't worry I'll b back in 2 months and time does fly fast. So this weeks project is music videos and this is the project that I have been waiting for this whole year. And if you are wondering why this project is at the ending of the year its because during the whole year we learn a lot of things in GT and our teacher wants  to see what we can do in our  last few weeks in school. So continuing on with the question  Explain the storyline & how it relates to your lyrics. Well our song is Sit Still Look Pretty by Daya. And our storyline is about a girl and a boy, they break up and the girls friends they come to comfort her and during the whole song it tell the story and we are the ones helping her get over the break up and then in the ending she forgets the boy. So me and Meleana are playing the parts of the 2 good friends and Ashley is the main character. So basically our story is about a break up story. And going more into depth about our music video so we planned for this music video to take place at
Kapa'a Park. So the scenes that we did was the main point of our story which was the break up scene and that part was really hard to  work on and that's because we have a a lot going from a Wide to Medium to a Close. Though it wasn't really that hard to film. And I think this music video was actually really fun to do.

Describe your favorite fast-edit montage sequence. Well my favorite fast editing montage would be when in the middle where we did this scene with brooms and ya it just looked really cool when we edited everything together. Also what I what I really like about our who video is I think we have more bloopers than our entire video. It was so fun during all the time filming. And as you can see the pictures on the right side of my blog that's all the fun we had as  a group.

How does this music vid showcase your best work? In our music video it will show what we can do with the DSLR camera's. Like it shows the new camera techniques that we've learn ed through out the year. And we can produce high quality shot with no shakiness and blurs in the shots. And in IMovie we show what we can do with transitions, affect with the green screen and other things to. Also another thing that we will show case in our video is a photo shop document of the three of us. Credit goes to Ashley cause it turned our looking that it matches with our who music video. Finally I would like to say that goodness were going to be 8th graders when I get back to you guys. For me I feel old but I act like a kid. And see you guys when I get back from summer break.
